Etawah Mission is the brain child of two great visionary missionary Archbishops - Rt. Rev. Dr Dominic Athaide OFM Cap. of Agra and His Beatitude Mar Antony Cardinal Padiyara of Changanacherry. The idea of inviting Southern Dioceses to take care of the unattended Northern Regions sprang up in hte CBCI General Body meeting held in 1974. As a result, Archbishop Athaide threw the challenge to Archbishop Padiyara, who being a missionary himself, joyously accepted the challenge. The 1st Batch of Priests and Sisters reached Agra on 1st May 1975. They met the Archbishop and proceeded to unknown land of Etawah. A primary School run by the SMA Sisiters were handed over to them, thus making the beginning of Etawah Mission. The pioneers, Rev. Fr Kuruvilla Kokkatt and Rev. Fr Jose Poovathinkal with CMC Sisiters under the able guidance of Mother Gonzaga gave a sound start to the Mission. At present, Etawah has 12 Mission stations. The Missionaries are supported and encouraged by Archbishops Joseph Perumthottam of Changanacherry and Rt. Rev.Dr Albert D'Souza of Agra Archdiocese. May St Thomas the Apostle help the Etawah Mission during this season of its RUBY Jubilee.
